I wasn’t too crazy about the greyish, taupe colour so I decided to try it as a primer. I got Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow in Recess as a gift with purchase (contain cyclopentasiloxane). They can also brighten your eye area and make the colour of your eyeshadows more intense. I find them easier and quicker to apply and they can also be worn on their own on days when I really don’t feel like doing much. They also contain silicones but have a creamy texture and aren’t sticky. Instead, I use creaseless cream eyeshadows. I find it more difficult to apply and blend eyeshadows after using these products. It’s just that I don’t like the sticky feeling they give. It’s not that they are not good: I’ve tried the Primer Potion and it works well. Personally, I’m not a big fan of these products.
Similarly, NARS has the Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base (cyclopentasiloxane). Too Faced’s version – Shadow Insurance Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer is paraben-free but also contains silicones (cyclopentasiloxane). One of the most well known is the Primer Potion by Urban Decay (contains cyclopentasiloxane – a type of silicone used in cosmetics). Liquid silicone -based eye primers are quite popular. It’s the difference between having an impeccable makeup all day and having two shadow lines 30 min after leaving the house.
If on top of this you have a slightly hooded eye, you know that a good eyelid primer is a must. I also have my eye on Groundwork, which is a MAC classic that I’ve shockingly never owned.Eyeshadows crease. I loved it dearly and used it to its last breath, and I will undoubtedly repurchase it once I’m done with Camel Coat. Painterly was the first Paint Pot I ever owned or used. Check out MAC’s official page here to see the colors available. However, their main lineup always includes the shades Painterly (a nude flesh color), Bare Study (a pearly beige), Soft Ochre (a nude yellowy color) and Groundwork (a neutral soft brown). For example, Camel Coat is now discontinued as is both Constructivist and Quite Natural, two darker brown colors I used to own. The thing with Paint Pots, which is really the only annoying thing about them, is that MAC likes to shuffle them in and out of their lineup. However I used to own several more in different colors. Right now I only have one in my collection – Camel Coat, a cool, slightly greyish nude which is pictured in this post. Read this: MAC Uninterrupted eyeshadow – a rediscovery! They also come in different colors and finishes. (I never notice much creasing from 8 – 10 hours of wear, but anything after 10 – 12 hours is fair game.) They are also generally quite creamy and easy to apply with brushes or fingers. Well, nine times out of ten my shadows apply smoothly and lock into place for long-wear with one of these babies underneath. But I’ve always come back to my good ‘ole Paint Pots. That is saying something! I’ve tried a lot of products in my time, including other eye primers like the Urban Decay Primer Potion and the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I’ve probably never been as dedicated to one particular product as I have been to the MAC Paint Pots. They come in a huge range of colors that you can wear by themselves, or add shadow on top of.
Primarily, I use Paint Pots as eye primers before I apply powder shadows, and this is something I’ve been doing since I started wearing makeup years and years ago. Primer for Eyes: MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot, 19 For eyes, I absolutely love MAC paint pots. These are just great, reliable little products that I just can’t be without. This is one of those rare cases where I agree with nearly all the claims a brand makes about their product (obviously I can’t attest to the first two claims).
